About Me

I’m a Canadian artist, dog lover and simple outdoors person. Maybe not in that order. First, I’m a dog lover. I love our two pups, Beans and Anna, so much. When they need a recovery/nap day, I try to help other dogs find homes as cozy as Beans and Anna’s. I’ve been learning everything I can about adoptions while volunteering. My goal is to help improve the system in any way that I can discover opportunities. Currently, there is huge untapped potential for rescue organizations to create the volunteer role “adopt for a day” and for the improved use of social media. This is a free platform that can reach many potential volunteers, adopters and foster homes at no cost to shelters.

I live in Canmore, Alberta, where I work in a restaurant, create local art, and volunteer dog-walk (this takes up most of my spare time and some of the time when I’m supposed to be working).

I grew up in New Brunswick with a kind, extremely smart mother who tried to never let a thing go to waste and a father who would learn anything he didn’t already know faster than anyone I’ve met. I learned biology, mechanics, business and general tomfoolery growing up in the log home that Mom and Dad built in the woods. I feel fortunate to have had the opportunities I had, even if they were disguised as hard work at the time. I went on to university and earned a BSc, graduating with distinction (I thought it mattered at the time), and I now have a degree in a closet somewhere that says double major: Biology and Psychology.

One thing I learned after going on my way with this degree is that it wasn’t going to do much for me (I probably knew that before I got it). I wasn’t made for career life. I was raised to think creatively and look for opportunity where others had missed it.

I love kayaking and mountain biking. I’m a minimalist and environmentalist, not a consumer.

I want to change minds and make a difference. Innovation is so valuable but can be perceived as “the wrong way” by many who like to do things the way they’ve always done them. I want to help people question the way things are and seek solutions to society’s accepted problems. I want the world to be a better place because I was here, in spite of my inevitable footprint.
